Weekie Wachie…what’s that? Doesn’t it sound like a magic spell or something? I think so. Well, I was trying to think of the most unique experience in the Tampa area that I can think of. Weekie Wachie came to mind. Weekie Wachie is a State Park. State Parks do not sound that exciting. But, this is a special place. This is where the mermaids live. Yes, they do, and no I am not losing my mind. I have gone here a few times, and have seen the amazing, beautiful mermaid shows.
Weekie Wachie State Park is a spring. Spring water is fresh, clear, and has a consistent temperature all throughout the year of 72 degrees. Does that sound cool or warm to you? During the summer months, the gulf waters can be at temperatures of 90 degrees. That is why 72 degrees can be so refreshing. This state park consists of so many things to do including a water park, animal shows, a riverboat cruise, kayaking, canoeing. What makes Weekie Wachie State park the most unique are the mermaid shows. There are 5 types of shows, and they have a schedule to show when they are. You can click here to see the schedule.
It has been a little while that I have been here, but I feel like it is a place that I could go back to at least once a year. It is a nice place to take out of towners, because it is not a place that you can go to everywhere. It is also about an hour north of Tampa. The price is very affordable at:
- Adult: $13.00
- Child (Ages 6 – 12): $8.00
- Children 5 and under: FREE
The daily admission price above now includes access to Buccaneer Bay, the waterpark.
The mermaid shows, reptile shows and river boat ride, are all included in the price of admission. Weekie Wachie also has a store to buy all the mermaid souvenirs you want, as well as a pretty decent snack shop, and ice cream shop.
This place is great for the whole family, so this is why I think it makes a perfect trip. Weekie Wachie often has festivals, and special events.
In fact, this weekend, the 65th annual mermaid show will be happening. Make sure to check it. Let me know if you love it as much as I do.
